Following Adolescence’s Golden Globe win for Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television, the series’ co-creator, Stephen Graham, is talking about what’s next. Netflix’s Adolescence was initially created as a limited series and consisted of four episodes, debuting on March 13, 2025.

Graham, who won a Golden Globe for his starring role in Adolescence, co-created the series with Jack Thorne. According to Deadline, Graham, speaking backstage at the Jan. 11 Golden Globes ceremony, alluded to the possibility that he and Thorne were thinking about doing a second season of the Netflix hit.

Adolescence chronicled a family whose world is turned upside down after their 13-year-old son, Jamie (Owen Cooper) is arrested and charged with murdering his classmate. Cooper also won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of the young Jamie Miller. Graham, answering questions backstage at the Globes, was asked about whether a second season of Adolescence may be forthcoming.

“I cannot answer that question because it’s somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack’s mind, and we’ll put it out in three or four years, so stay tuned,” Graham said.

Adolescence also dominated the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards, winning eight trophies at the ceremony back in September, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. The same month, Thorne talked about the future of the show. At that time, it seemed that Adolescence would have just one season.

“There’s gonna be no continuation. The Miller story, we think, is told,” Thorne told CinemaBlend. He did say that he may use the show’s one continuous camera shot per episode in another project down the road. “We might find a way of using the one-shot. We are talking about finding ways to use the one-shot more in a different way. And we’d love to do that. Maybe it’s about the team versus finding a new story that we’re just as passionate about telling. So we’re working on that, and talking about that, but we haven’t found the answer completely yet, to be honest,” he said.

However, he continued, “It feels like we’ve finished telling [Jamie’s] story. We’ve finished telling what bits we want to tell,” the writer insisted. “And people say it’d be brilliant to see Katie’s perspective. And you’re like, well, yes, but maybe we are not the right people to tell Katie’s story.”

Adolescence has been acclaimed by critics and holds a nearly-perfect 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Its audience rating currently sits at 74%. The series is streaming on Netflix.
