Asus has introduced the Oxiis E250G1 Intelligent Bike Booster, a 3.7-kilogram removable electric drive that converts standard bicycles into e-bikes. Scheduled for release in 2026, the device uses a roller mechanism on the seat post to deliver up to 50 kilometers of range on a single charge.
Tech giant Asus is branching out into personal transit with a new accessory designed to give standard pushbikes an electrical assist. The company revealed the Oxiis E250G1 Intelligent Bike Booster, a compact clip-on motor system that turns everyday bicycles into e-bikes without requiring wheel replacements or complex frame modifications.
How the Oxiis E250G1 Roller Drive Operates
From there, a small electric motor equipped with a drive roller presses against the rear tire, transferring torque directly to the wheel during motion.
The physical footprint of the unit remains modest. The entire assembly, including the battery pack, weighs 3.7 kilograms according to technical specifications, though initial reporting put the weight closer to 4 kilograms. Riders can easily detach the device after a ride and stow it inside a backpack.
Motor Power, Adaptive Boost, and Speed Limits
The system runs on a continuous motor power rating of 250 W, with peak output surging to 500 W when extra torque is required.
Users can select between three distinct operating modes—Eco, Normal, and Sport—either through a physical button on the device or via a mobile application. The maximum top speed is rated at 32 km/h, although regional regulations will limit the device to 25 km/h in certain markets.
Battery Range, Charging Specs, and Frame Compatibility
Energy storage comes from a removable 158.4 Wh battery pack. In the maximum-efficiency Eco mode, the drive delivers up to 50 kilometers of range. Selecting the high-performance Sport mode for steep inclines reduces that range down to approximately 10 kilometers.
The battery supports USB-C charging with Power Delivery up to 100 W, bringing the power pack from zero to full in roughly two hours. For safety, the hardware includes an intelligent rear tail light that detects braking deceleration and automatically brightens its signal to alert trailing traffic.
Compatibility spans a broad range of human-powered designs. The system fits urban, road, and folding bicycles outfitted with wheel diameters ranging from 16 to 29 inches and tire widths up to 60 millimeters. The assembly also carries an IPX4 water-resistance rating, meaning it can operate safely during wet weather conditions.
Market Release Plans and Product Positioning
Asus plans to roll out the Oxiis E250G1 during the 2026 calendar year. Exact pricing details and precise on-sale dates have not yet been disclosed by the manufacturer.
